The Puddle

In my series of works called “The Puddle” I am interested in investigating what a mistake means and the relationship people have to it. I have chosen the shape of a puddle to represent mistakes because puddles are accidental accumulations of water. Using this form of the puddle I’ve chosen to work with multiple materials which are mirrors, foam, resin and glass. I decided to use the mirror in order to have the viewer look at their reflection. I want the viewer to reflect on themselves while looking at my piece. The foam pieces are abstracted versions of the puddle.

Usually when people make a mistake they try to hide and deny it but in my case I’m putting it on display for everyone to see. Especially now in 2018 everyone is always supposed to be perfect and we show how perfect our life is on social media platforms. My work shifts a perspective on mistakes and starts to play with an unexpected form by making you embrace the mistake you made instead of turning away from it.
