My inspiration for road kill series originated with an experience shortly after coming home. On the major stretch of highway I drove over 30 roadkill within a four hour drive- something which has stuck in my head ever since. Animals decomposing, animals eating other dead animals on the side of the road, and animals being treated as something to be ignored- even when towns were fully capable of cleaning them up from off the roads. Today, the issue of roadkill heavily reminds me of the biggest issues within our everyday society: something we see on our usual routines to work, but we don’t bother to take a stance. This is why I have selectively chosen roadkill as my point of reference to create a body of work depicting this attitude which needs to change.
